أقرت وزارة الصحة السودانية بوجود قصور حقيقي في عمليات مكافحة الإدمان على المخدرات على مستوى الولايات بسبب قلة مراكز تقديم الخدمات.
وشددت على ضرورة إعادة صياغة الرسالة التعزيزية والتثقيفية بصورة عاجلة وتوحيد الرسالة لكل الولايات، للحماية والترويج لعمل الفحص والعلاج ومكافحة الرسالة المضادة، مع ضرورة استمرار الشراكات مع وزارة الصحة والجهات القانونية والإعلامية والتعليمية بإشراف المنصة العليا.
والإشارة إلى التمثيل الدائم للصحة في كل التفاصيل، أن المجلس الاستشاري النفسي سيكون هو الجهة العليا للاستشارة على هذا الملف.
وأكدت الوزارة على تنفيذ التوصيات وذلك بمتابعة عمل اللجنة مع وضع بعض الموجهات.
كشف وزير الصحة الاتحادية، هيثم محمد إبراهيم عن صدور قرار مرتقب خاص بتكوين لجنة عليا لمكافحة الإدمان في السودان، برئاسة وزارة الصحة وشراكة المجلس القومي للأدوية والسموم، المجلس الاستشاري النفسي، الإعلام ومنظمات المجتمع المدني وكذلك مراكز تعزيز الصحة والطب العلاجي والإدارة العامة لمكافحة المخدرات.
